I could have sworn it was possible to do it without any fancy tool or machines, but is it possible to ‘un-pop’ a jar with a pop top seal (such as a jar of Pasta).

I got a crate of 1977 Soviet military surplus ammunition today and when I punctured one of the spam cans there was a rush of air. I couldn’t tell if the air was rushing in or out though. Are those spam cans vacuum sealed and the rush I heard was air going into the can? [...]
